Catchin’ Up

It’s been quite a while since we’ve posted anything, and there’s been so much going on, so we figured it was time to catch up a bit.

In this past year, we’ve done a heck of a lot of traveling: Spain for the Screamin’ Weekender, Germany for an Americana Festival, Indianapolis for the Road Rocket Rumble, Seattle for a handful of fun shows, and now we’re home for a while. Not really resting, but catching our breath.

I’ve been hard at work on my book- Ruby’s Juke Joint Americana Cookbook- due out November 1st on Bando Press! Of course, that comes with a CD of music to cook by, and we’re heading into the studio this weekend to record the new song I wrote just for the book: Home Cookin’. It’s a waltz, and well, it’s about home cooked food :-), something we don’t get a lot of when we’re on the road. Our new bassman Skip Frontz Jr will be on upright bass, and our friends Scott French (formerly of Two Hoots and a Holler) and Sean Orr will be accompanying us on drums and fiddle. I’m so excited!

I’ve also begun writing songs again- since my accident three years ago, I haven’t been able to really put words and music together like I used to do. But I’m working at it, and songs are starting to percolate up, so look forward to the Snakehandlers breaking out new stuff, and hopefully heading back into the studio next year.

Other than that, I’ve been working at booking us in lots of places: talking to folks in Finland, Sweden, Norway, even Russia! And of course here at home- we’ll be playing Viva Las Vegas in 2012, and were invited back to play the Road Rocket Rumble again next year. Hot dog, seriously! I can’t complain about too much these days. I love what we do, and am grateful we get to keep doing it. Thanks for helping!

Hope to see you on down the road then, and until then, keep on rockin’!
