Ok so you just never know, and sometimes the surprise is a good one. We drove out to Genk and the Hotel Bij Ford where we were to play tonight, and upon arrival, found ourselves in this picturesque tiny little burg in an ooooold hotel-bar, low ceilings, crazy old lamp on the stage area, very down-low. We weren’t sure what to expect, how the folks would like us.
After we ate a wonderful meal served up by the owner Michel, we got on stage and served it up right back- musically that is- to a smallish crowd of incredibly appreciative folks. What a great crowd! Our personal favorite actually- I mean hey, I’d rather play to a small room of folks who really like what we’re doing than a big room that just doesn’t give damn. We all had a great time. And honestly, how we play in a smaller room is just that much more intimate, tuned in, easier to dial in, and so much easier on the ears than so many bigger stages out there.
And we played a pretty durned good show, if I say so myself! I love playing with these guys that we’re playing with these days- Kevin and Adam- it’s just so much fun, sorta like the old band way back when as far as that feel on stage goes. It’s all good.
We wish our pals Kristine and Arne could have joined us tonight, but we know we’ll be seeing them soon! So we’re back at home base for the night and resting up for more tomorrow. We’ll see you there and then

Hoi Ruby
groetjes Jacky & Marleen
Happy that it all turned out well for my friend Michel, I really had to convince him bout taking the gig so a real pleasure to hear it all went well. Thinking bout Ruby and Co in sunny Lanzarote and how they will be impressed tonite by the Horta design of the Archiduc in my hometown Brussels, actually this is David Bowie his favorite bar and the owner Jean Louis cannot wait to hear the Austin Texas version of Plastic Bertrand. Lucky for me he wants to shoot it on film as to do my a favour. Keep on rocking and greetings from Brussels nightmayor

Glad you were there senor! We had the BEST time- read the new blog, it’s my new favorite spot to turn in and turn on singin’! Gorgeous bar, great staff, killer drinks, and the music wasn’t bad either…
Hope to see you all again soon, Ruby Dee
