Happy Patriot’s Day New York

Well, I gotta tell ya, it’s bittersweet, being here in New York to play our first shows out here, but on the anniversary of 9/11. We’re happy to be here, yet soberly reminded of what went down not so long ago right here… it’s one thing to have watched it all unfold on TV from the relative safety of our living rooms on the west coast or elsewhere in this country, and quite another to drive right past the spot where it all happened. So, first thing’s first today- my heart goes out to any and all who lost someone that horrible day, eight years ago. And… New York is still New York, you just can’t change that, and that’s a good thing.

So we’re heading east out to the end of Long Island, hopping on a ferry out to Shelter Island, and playing one hopped up crazy beach party- rain or shine friends (it’s raining right now)- then heading over to the local bar and playing all night long there afterwards that same night (!). Next day we head back to Brooklyn to play the Union Pool- that’s Sunday night- and oh Nelly, I don’t know what made me say yes to this, but we have a phone in radio interview Monday morning at 8:30am with WHLM out of Pennsylvania!!! I tell anyone now who might listen in on that interview, that I am not responsible for what I say when I am clearly not awake yet! Just so ya know…

Otherwise, I also have to say that cell phone technology is amazing. We’re on this tour, and booking other gigs and putting together other tours via cell phone, plus sending out press kits, hooking up with new bands to play with, and of course keeping in touch with friends on the road. Man, a lot has changed since the days when you did so much by mail and regular phone…

Ok, so here’s the kick off then for a week’s worth of blogging. Hope you all enjoy, and we look forward to seeing you soon! Check out our schedule to find out where and when we’ll be playing next. Until then, keep on rockin’!
