Ok so I lied a little

Ok so I lied a little. We just got back from playing three sets in Hoorn to a rowdy bunch of dancers and other, regular folks (hey, I’m a dancer, so I can say that), finished packing up all our gear and personal items, and are now sitting around the Akkerhuisje at 2am waiting for our 5am pickup to the airport. I know I said I was done blogging, but what the hey, so I lied a little. It’s either this, or sleep- and sleep is over-rated!

We got to see our new-found friends Kristine and Arne once again- that’s TEN times they came to see us this tour. That, friends, is a record! We look forward to seeing them in November when they come to visit us in Austin. Oh the tacos al pastor we will eat.

We met a gentleman named Nico at the show who’d spent SXSW in Austin. He told us that he met a drummer at Ginny’s, and when he asked the drummer if he was in a band, the drummer had replied “No, not now, but I just auditioned for a band. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers?” Nico knew we were coming to Hoorn to play this festival, so yup, he’d heard of us. Small world.

Other than that, nothing much to report. We board our plane tomorrow morning, and head home to where the skies are blue and it’s just a bit warmer than it is here. Hope to see you all soon somewhere down the road- come see us in Mirande when we come back over this way in July. Or someplace in Texas or there-abouts… Until then, you know what to do!

About Ruby Dee

What can we say, the one and only Ruby Dee!
