Last blog of the tour

Howdy friends and fambly- well, this is our last blog of the tour most likely, as tomorrow we have a two hour drive, play three sets, two hours back to Lichtaart, then up and picked up by five am to get our weary arses off to the airport! I believe we’ll be showering, packing, and maybe drinking or perhaps even napping in there somewhere. But most likely not blogging. We’ll see though- the less apt you are to make declarative statements, the less likely you will have to retract them ( that one goes out to senor Kipp Crawford!).

Meanwhile, I know I didn’t write anything last night. Well this is how it works. If you don’t hear anything, that most likely means the experience was not necessarily BAD, just not what we usually write about: great crowds, fun times had by all, crazy drunks, you know the list.

So last night was somewhat uneventful, even though the place was nice enough, the owner was cool, and the town rife with history- they were bombed down to nothing twice during WWII. We played a more settled down two sets of Snakehandlers ‘jazz’ due to the curfew, and came home to the Akkerhuisje so early we all sorta sat around and stared at each other for a bit.

Tonight however was quite different. We played at Cafe Muzikant in Neerkant, NL, just across the border from Belgium. This place was beautiful, lots of old style charm, and a very nice owner, who used to sing honky tonk. He played one of his CD’s for us and dang if he wasn’t something great! Wish we had invited him up to join us in a song or two. Next time, now we know… The crowd was extremely appreciative of our music and performance, and I found my traditional drunken lout of a fan- made me feel right at home.

An old friend of Jorge’s from BEHRINGER, Andy Cullen, drove over from Germany to come see us play- that was incredibly nice. And of course, our biggest stalker club, I mean fan club, came out to see us yet again. I think this makes 9 times this tour? And they say they’ll be there tomorrow in Hoorn! Troopers all the way.

So, if you come out to see us in Hoorn, we’ll see you there. Otherwise, it’ll have to wait till next April, for we’ve already started setting up our fourth European tour for 2010 thanks to Gert at Surfing Airlines, or you’ll have to get over to La Mirande Country Music Festival south of Toulouse in France this July. Or come on over to Texas anytime for some real down home fun!

Whichever way it happens, let’s make sure it does, and that you have a real good rockin’ time until then, Ruby
