Last night on tour in SF tonight!
Howdy folks! Tonight’s our last night on this tour in support of our second full- length CD ‘MILES FROM HOME’, and we’re playing at the Knockout in the Mission in San Francisco, FIRST UP on the bill out of four bands, so if you’re planning to come out and hang with the Snakehandlers, then please make sure to hit the club early enough to catch us tonight!
And hey, by the way, ‘MILES FROM HOME’ charted for six weeks in the Top 100 AMA Charts, and at #26 in the FAR Top 40! There’s plenty more where all that came from, so stop on by and get a jen-yoo-wine Ruby smile and Jorge grimace tonight.
As for the last two nights, well hell, we’ve toured across the south for the past month, through sweltering heat, some searing desert-sunniness and generally wall o’ sweat nights on stage. That is up until the other night in South Lake Tahoe! The temps dropped down to 18 degrees, and it was bitterly cooold on stage. What’s more, all I could think of up there at the mic was- folks, I shaved my legs for all this!!
We had such a good time though, cold or not. The theater there on the shore of Lake Tahoe is a classic, built up from a private boat club into the public works it is today. And what a great place to see and hear live music! And old friends, for that matter. My old pal Dave came out and helped run sound, of all things, and our buddy Stevie Zoom from Seattle’s KEXP just happened to be in the neighborhood- really!- and came to the show with some old high school buddies in tow! And we got to do that thing I love so much at shows everywhere- we got to meet up with folks from all over who truly love live music, and really enjoyed what Jorge and I put out there every night. A big howdy to our new friends from Tahoe/Austin!!
The funny thing is that it snowed the next morning, and for about a half an hour, we didn’t know if we’d be ok driving over the pass out of town and over to Sacramento. But then we were told it would be alright, and headed out into the snow. Once away from the lake, it turned drier, and was easy driving over the pass- phew. We made it to Sacramento where we stayed with Vince Montoya, formerly of Tattooed Love Dogs, and then over to Old Ironsides, where we played a great show, mostly for Jorge’s old bandmate Andy Lopez, who came out to see us, FINALLY! I mean, there were plenty of other folks there, but we really put it on for ol’ Andy. Good to see ya, man, from the bottom of Jorge’s big ol’ mushy heart!! And mine, for that matter.
Thanks also to Jerry for all his hard work putting together great live shows over the years- we’re rooting for ya Jerry!!
So, here’s to all our friends out on the road and at home- we hope to see ya soon, and want to send you a great big hearty thanks for helping us out on this crazy thing we do- writing music, recording it, playing it, and touring… Keep on honky tonkin’ y’all! Ruby
